Stone to Ice
Haworth Hodgkinson
This could be snow
flaking from red larches.
It is ice
bound to stone.
You could find skylarks;
crocuses.
You find stone
cold as ice.
There could be blue skies,
sun-fired red rock.
There is ice,
splintered stone.
Leaves have fallen
on still water.
Stone to ice.
Ice to stone.
