Cosmic Impulse
Haworth Hodgkinson
Hurtling through space
at wanton speed,
I, a comet, swerve,
attracted by strange
and beautiful worlds.
A small blue planet
enters my view.
Curious, I venture closer,
but the smouldering stench
of unfathomable decadence
appals my icy heart
and my attentions
turn elsewhere.
