Battlehill Sketches
Haworth Hodgkinson
one giant three-trunk
at the forest margin
the out-view: road meandering
upwards into the turbine fields
fallen canopy reveals
a counter-growth of under-berries
turning inwards:
the deeper insect hum
of industrial pole-planting
elderberry junction:
the road now distant
evening sun breaks
over a new view
of open tree land
the call and response
of sky-whistles
